BISHOP COURTNEY A. JONES

Bishop Jones, a native St. Louisan, has served as senior pastor at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, The Church of Koinonia over 20 years.  He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Ministry degree from the New World Bible Institute and Theological Seminary-Texarkana, Arkansas.  Bishop Jones has completed additional work at Colgate Rochester School of Divinity-Rochester, New York and the course work for his Doctoral Degree through the Graduate School of Episcopal Studies in conjunction with Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is currently working on his dissertation. 

 

In addition to his pastoral accomplishments at Pleasant Grove, he serves as Board member of the American Baptist Churches Great Rivers Region, and chaplain for the St. Louis Police Department.  Bishop Jones has served as chairman of Economic Development for the St. Louis Clergy Coalition, the Advisory Board Member for Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids and as past moderator  for Area V of the American Baptist Churches Great Rivers Region.  He was appointed, by the Mayor, to the Board of Commissioners for the St. Louis International Airport and by the Governor, to the Missouri Foundation for Health.  Bishop Jones was honored along with other religious leaders at the White House during President Clinton's administration. Bishop Jones' dedicated and willing community service has been acknowledged through numerous honors and awards.  He is a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.  As a gifted preacher/teacher, Bishop Jones is sought after throughout the country.

 

He is married to Tritobia and they have one daughter, Adrien Rose.
